Sir Linkalot, otherwise known as Andy Salmon, visited NPCS to promote spelling strategies. He started off in Year 7 assembly and with the help of twins, Abdirahman and Ahmed, everyone was able to leave assembly and spell difficult words such as accommodation by making clever memory links. During the day he worked with groups of year 7 students to improve their spelling. Log onto Sir Linkalot’s website to learn some linking strategies for spellings, dates and facts. Add some of your own links or request a link for a difficult word.

Severe Weather Condition Arrangements
Please note that if we do have severe weather, we will follow the procedure laid out below:
We shall reorganise the school day for a 1.15pm or 2.30pm dismissal. This will allow all students and staff extra time to get home in daylight, even if transport is disrupted. You will be notified that there will be an early closure via text messaging or phone call.
I am, therefore, asking you to make arrangements for your son/daughter to follow, in the event of an unexpected weather emergency so that he/she can go to a safe place after a 1.15pm or 2.30pm dismissal.
If I make the decision not to open the school because of severe weather conditions, a text message will be sent to your mobile phone at 6.30am and the website will also be updated at the same time. Furthermore, a message will be recorded on the school’s answer phone.
Please rest assured that I will use these arrangements sparingly.
It is very important that the school office has your current mobile number, so you are kept up to date with announcements. Please do not accept phone calls from your children about the school being closed, without a message from the school!
Thanking you in anticipation of your support

Headteacher
From Tottenham, London to Lille, France…
Best Travel is the name of the travel agency who organised our day trip to Lille on Friday 7th December 2012 and they certainly lived up to their name! We had the best NPCS staff and students, the best coach drivers and the best time ever. Neither a defective out-bound Eurostar train nor initially rainy weather could put a dampener our fun.
We set off at 7.30 on Friday morning intent on spending the day soaking up the festive French atmosphere in Lille. A couple of hours on the motorway followed by a 186 mile per hour Eurostar Channel crossing were the only hurdles we had to overcome. The Channel crossing was enhanced by the inconvenience of having to share our carriage with an Aston Martin.
Euralille Shopping Centre was our first port of call followed by the festivities in the town square. We were delighted to see a McDonald’s restaurant in the town centre, but after an hour of queuing for our food, we realised that the French do not quite understand the concept of ‘fast food.’ We saved the best for last and ended up at the famous Christmas Market where we feasted our eyes on festive food and traditional arts and craft.
The highlight for many of the students was a ride on the Grande Roue, situated in the middle of a winter wonderland setting. Other students enjoyed sampling French culinary delights in the Christmas Market. I must admit, however, that the highlight of my day came at 11.45, by which time all the students had been collected promptly by their parents and carers and I could look forward to going home to a lovely, warm bath.
Many thanks to Mr Warner and Mr Sayid who kept everyone in line; to Ms Duperron who gave on-the-spot French lessons and to Ms Simpson who was a calming influence. All I had to do was keep reminding students to stop asking questions like, “Are we there yet?”
Many thanks too to all the students who behaved impeccably and who were excellent NPCS ambassadors.
Tottenham ‘Young Entrepreneurs’ Programme
Kiechelle, Vanessa, Michael-Joel , Adeola, Tyrelle and Nasra all took time out of their summer holiday to take part in a 5 day ‘Tottenham Young Entrepreneurs Programme” demonstrating maturity and dedication whilst using their planning, organisation and communication skills.
In teams with students from other schools, they were set the challenge to create a business model to benefit the community and then present their ideas to business experts and Councillor David Browne. Lord Alan Sugar and the team from the Apprentice, as well as Tottenham MP David Lammy, visited them during the week.
Adeola and Tyrelle were both part of the winning team who will go on to represent Haringey in the London finals in July 2013.
Ms Gardner was able to proudly join the students as they ‘graduated’ at a ceremony held at Haringey Civic Centre to mark their achievement, presented by the Mayor of Haringey, with adult professional qualifications accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) – A qualification Level 2 Award in Team Leading.
Congratulations!!
