NPCS students give advice to the new president on BBC’s World Service

After a closely-fought battle, the 2012 US presidential election was won by Barack Obama to ensure four more years of Democrat rule.

But the news will make waves well beyond the States.

Students Yasser, Zubaydah, Dilan, Georgia, Lauren and Khalid from Northumberland Park Community School in Tottenham discussed what they would do if they won the US election with reporters from BBC World Service programme The World.

And whether it’s “keep your promises”, “make everyone happy” or “halve the deficit”, the pupils were full of advice for Mr Obama, including some tips on how to relax from the stresses of being the leader of one of the world’s remaining superpowers.

“I could go trampolining with normal people,” said one pupil, while another said they’d buy some high-heel shoes – just because they could!

Spurs Manager, Andre Villas Boas visits NPCS

Students from Northumberland Park were given a master class in coaching for the new Spurs Manager, Andre Villas Boas (AVB). AVB through the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation coaches gave students 1-2-1 support and advice on how to improve their football skills.  Year 9 students couldn’t believe their luck when AVB also watched them romp home a 4-2 victory against Gladesmore Secondary School.  One young player in particular caught the eye of the Manager; Kimarne Johnson was singled out for determination, focus and skill. Kimarne said “Andre told me I was man of the match and a good team player as well as defender.  Hopefully this could lead to something more”.

The Tottenham Foundation delivers ‘Kickz’ programme on the Astroturf every Thursday & Friday at 6pm.

NPCS Celebrates National Poetry Day

Northumberland Park celebrated National Poetry Day on Friday 12th Ocotber . This year the theme was “Stars”.  Ms Raheem’s quiz proved very popular and Year 6s had a fabulous time in the “Star Chamber” composing poems.
In English KS3 students worked on composing Cinquains – five line poems but quite difficult  to construct because of the syllable rules.
Please find below an example from one of our students in Year 7:

On a bright star
Twinkling in the dark sky
All alone but still believing
